UNICEF’s Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH) project implemented by Hope-Sierra Leone in Bombali Shebora Chiefdom, has resulted to the construction of twenty latrines in schools situated in ten communities to address the issue of open defecation, in a bid to curb poor hygiene in the chiefdom.

Past week, a consortium of five NGOs working as UNICEF’s implementing partners held a two day training session at the Bombali District Council Hall, to develop best practices and capacity in ensuring the overall success of the WASH project in their various communities, tagged as beneficiaries.
Explaining in an exclusive interview with Awoko at Rosinth Village in Bombali Shebora Chiefdom (one of the beneficiary villages), the Acting Chairman of the WASH Consortium, who also doubles as the Director of Hope Sierra Leone, John Bangura, said that the consortium comprises of WASH Implementing partners- Sierra Leone (CoWIPs-SL), which are partnering with UNICEF to promote hygiene projects in various communities allotted to them.
