As part of its 150 years celebrations today, 8th  May 2013, Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) joins other Red Cross Red Crescent Societies all over the world to mark 150 years of the International Red Cross Movement and the First Geneva convention.

According the Secretary General of SLCRS, Mr. Emmanuel Tommy, said this years celebration will be held in Kenema in the eastern region of Sierra Leone.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at the Board Room of the national secretariat of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society Liverpool Street in Freetown, Mr. Tommy said the tradition of celebration of  World Red Cross Day on 8th May is to observe by paying tribute to the volunteers for their unprecedented contribution to people in need.
