Chikadi Huts Resort is a small resort in Thorlmosoh, Lungi, about 15 min drive from Targrin, and 10 min from the airport. CHIKADI huts resort offers 15 one-bedroom chalets in a cozy natural african village setting and in a serene and eco-friendly atmosphere. This is a Q&A with the owners of the Resort.

1. What inspired you to get into the hospitality sector and the main aim with Chikadi Huts Resort?

Chance. Our first attempt to invest in the land failed, so my husband, who is an engineer did what he can do best. He built the huts & we had to do something with them. That is how we found ourselves in the hospitality sector.

2. What does Chikadi mean?

It’s a coined name taken from letters from our 3 children’s names.

3. Why Lungi?

It was not a choice. Came from an opportunity to purchase land that was made available to us, by someone who is an indigene of Lungi & was a work colleague at that time.

4. How would you describe the overall experience that guests can expect at Chikadi Huts?

A serene & eco-friendly atmosphere in a village-like setting with an option to relax by the pool with a cool drink from the bar.

5. What makes Chikadi Huts Resort different from other accommodations in Sierra Leone?

Its unique huts give a semblance of village life & we do our best to keep it local by serving local products & teas like Lemon grass & teabush tea. Our land next door plants organic vegetables & fruits which serve the Resort. *The Resort itself is also 100% solar powered.

6. Is the resort family-friendly?

Yes, it is.

7. How do you contribute to the local community and environment in Sierra Leone?

All Chikadi Huts Resort staff are from the local community. The environment is eco friendly and is 100% powered by solar energy.

8. Can guests host events, weddings, or conferences at Chikadi Huts Resort?

Yes, there’s a possibility. The pool side & the lawn are two separate & excellent areas to host such events & the dining room & the spacious palava hut can each host small conferences.

9. What’s the best way for guests to reach Chikadi Huts Resort from the airport or other parts of Sierra Leone?

We have procured a 15-seater bus that can do these shuttles as business & the number of guests increase.

10. What plans or developments do you have for the future of Chikadi Huts Resort?

In the immediate term, we intend to make all the chalets fully air conditioned. We are in the process of procuring Air conditioners for the rest of the chalets. In the short term, to open a playground for little children, & a small mini -market.
