Leone Stars striker Kei Kamara has received the 2012 sierraleonefootball.com Sierra Leonean player of the year award five months after he was announced as the winner of the maiden prestigious award by living legend Mohamed Kallon.


The 28-year old based in the USA picked up the award in a ceremony chaired by popular Sports presenter Abu Bakarr Kanu on Thursday.
The ceremony took place at Mariam hotel in Freetown where Leone Stars are currently camped in preparation for their 2014 World Cup qualifier against Tunisia at the National Stadium on Saturday.

He added: “I’m pleased and excited to receive such an award, I really appreciate the award. This would not have happened without my colleagues and I want to say thanks to them.”

The shortlist for the award was drawn up by a cross section of Sports journalists in Sierra Leone, who based their choices on performance at both club and national team level.
