    To manage shared resources (disks, printers) and assign rights to users.
    To manage the accounts, keeping updated the different directories (e.g.: address book).
    To create and maintain scripts (e.g.: logon).

    To maintain necessary budgetary control records.
    To organise and provide training and coaching to users on IT matters, especially on the MS Office suite.
    To prepare a quarterly activity report.
    Other activities as, for example, the management of the PABX, videoconference equipment, etc.


    National of one of the Member States of the European Union.
    Post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or Secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education and appropriate professional experience of three years preferably in the following fields: server administration, network administration, IT security management, information systems, IT hardware.
    Professional experience of a minimum two years in the above-mentioned fields desirable.
    Fluent in English (understanding, reading, writing) and satisfactory knowledge of another European Union language.
    Very good knowledge of:

    Windows 2003 Advanced Server and Active Directory
    Microsoft Exchange 2003
    Telecommunications (PSTN and networks (WAN, Ethernet…)
    TCP/IP protocol and related services in a Windows 2003 Server/2003 Exchange environment: DNS, DHCP, WINS
    Microsoft Office products
    Hardware environment (PC, Server: RAID configuration, peripherals, cabling).
    Knowledge of the Commission and its procedures is a plus.
    Knowledge of Web site development is a plus.
    Knowledge of Office automatisation is a plus.

    Only selected candidates will be contacted for a written test and thereafter an interview.

    The evaluation of candidates will be based on:

    Examination of the submitted application in respect of the requirements of the post.
    Any information regarding the qualifications and skills of the candidates acquired through contact with references (the Delegation reserves the right to contact any organization or body mentioned in the CV even if not quoted as reference).
    A written technical test, focused on information technology and ICT-related matters.
    A telephone/personal interview with the candidate.

    The successful candidate will be requested to provide within 2 weeks the following documents in view of the preparation of a recruitment file:

    1. Birth certificate (original).

    2. Certified photocopy of the passport and/or of the identity card and/or of another official document giving proof of nationality.

    3. Recent certificate of good conduct, issued for a public administration by the police or relevant administrate to her/his country (original).

    4. Certified photocopy of academic certificates.

    5. References from all employers showing professional experience.

    6. 2 passport sized photographs.

    7. Certified copy of marriage certificate, if applicable.

    8. Birth certificate of children, if applicable.

    9. Official declaration of candidate’s position concerning military service, if applicable.

    10. Proof that the candidate is not a permanent resident of Sierra Leone. In absence of an official document, the candidate can provide a certificate declared on his/her honour.

    The successful candidate should be aware of the Commission Decision of 29 November 2001 (2001/844/EC; OJ 3/12/2001, L317) and the necessity to receive a security clearance issued by the national authorities of the Member State concerned.

    The successful candidate should be ready start the work at the Delegation of the European Commission to Sierra Leone early in February 2007.
