The Every One Campaign championed by Save the Children International, has organized a forum at the Presidential Lounge, National Stadium, to discuss pertinent issues affecting maternal and infant health and mortality in the country.
An appalling statistics revealed during power-point presentations from officials of the Health Ministry and Save the Children indicate that every year, a total of 6.9 million children die before their 5th birthday, and approximately 3 million newborn babies die in the first month of life; whereas, 287,000 women die due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth.

SIERRA LEONE and RUSSIA - Sierra Leone’s Ambassador, John Sahr Yambasu, has confirmed that a fisheries agreement will be signed between Sierra Leone and Russia in Moscow in June/July 2013.

Awareness Times reports that the ambassador made the announcement during a plenary meeting between the two countries.

At the meeting, Ambassador Yambasu said that the fisheries agreement will be made in an effort to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two nation.

He also pointed out that the agreement is meant to provide vast opportunities for the exchange of information regarding the development of Sierra Leone's fisheries sector.

Sierra Leone has blown probably their only chance to get back into the 2014 FIFA World Cup Group B after carelessly conceding late to North African leaders Tunisia in Freetown.

The Tunisians equalised late to pick up a vital away point after Kei Kamara and Alhassan Kamara twice put Sierra Leone in front, but it was Ibrahim Tarawallie the Sierra Leone keeper whose error the Cartage Eagles capitalised on as they now lead by five points from four matches.
