Welcome to the March edition of the Visit Sierra Leone Newsletter! It's been a relatively quiet
month in terms of updates but the forum has kicked off proper! So when you get a chance do
stop by and find out what our growing community are talking about.
Let me get down to some serious business:
Remember in the first newsletter i offered a free book to the first person to make 40 posts?
Well, one must deliver on their promises.. and congratulations to Edleen, one of our active
members with very positive contributions in the forum! One free book on the way to you

Upcoming events...
The Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture would be organising its
44th Annual International/ National Trade Fair and Exhibitions 2005 from the 21st April to
30th April 2005. You can download a registration form from the VSL homepage.
Site Updates...
I've added more pictures for your computer's desktop background to continue showing off
with (we nor go tire). You need to log on in order to download pictures but registration is
simple and free. Email me if you've forgotten your password.
Not everyone is aware that you can also send e-cards to friends around the world from the
VSL site for free! I've added more pictures to that section as well.

Aaah...the forum..the forum has been keeping us very entertained. It as grown from 96
registered members and 455 Posts in 78 Topics in 8 Forums; to 140 members with 1760
Posts in 175 Topics in 9 Forums since the last newsletter! Well, we all know Sierra Leoneans
have a wicked sense of humour but what makes the VSL forum special is the delicate and
well balanced mix of humour and seriousness.
Hot topics in the past month include:
750 Sierra Leoneans for Iraq - Discussion of the recent program in which Sierra Leoneans get
the opportunity to go off to Iraq for jobs paying between $175 & $320

Chinese cash targets Sierra Leone - This conversation lives on. Following the Chinese
proposal for a $200million development along Lumley Beach which was talked about in the
December newsletter, BBC recently posted a news article which re-opened the debate! It
looks at the pros and cons of such a deal and growing influence of China not only in Sierra
Leone but Africa as a whole. Despite some of the cons, as 'Saloneman' points out $200million
is a lot of money! Have your say...

Ah Miss Salone - This is a good one... 'Saloneboy' made one phone call to a friend from Sierra
Leone which made him homesick and started this discussion about the things he misses most
as a Sierra Leonean living in the west. What was to follow is 8 pages of reminiscing from
members talking about their childhood days and what it was like growing up in Sierra Leone.
