The Banana Island Guest House is owned and operated by the Banana Island Youth Association, a community-based organisation recognized by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs. This guest house is an example of how sustainable rural growth can be generated.
There are three chalets, each with two rooms, containing tiled private baths with running water. Solar light and lanterns provide light in the evenings.
Please read carefully the Terms & Conditions set out below before going on to confirm any booking.
Please note: We act as agent only in respect of all bookings we take or make on your behalf. We accept no liability in relation to any contract you enter into or for any hotel accommodation and/or other arrangements that you book (‘arrangements’) or for the acts or omissions of any hotel or other person(s) or party(ies) connected with the arrangements. We reserve the right to pass on to you in full all additional costs and charges of whatever nature imposed by the hotels in accordance with its own terms and conditions.
- Any booking made by you through this website will be deemed to be an offer by you to occupy the relevant accommodation under these Terms & Conditions.
- The person who makes the booking must be at least 18 years of age at the time of booking and accepts these Terms & Conditions on behalf of all members of the party and is also responsible for all payments due from the party.
A booking made by you will be under the assumption that you have read and accepted the Terms & Conditions.
Payment:
- You can use MasterCard, Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Switch/Maestro, Solo and American Express to fund your payment. Credit card payments are done by you through Paypal. You must not give credit card details to any Visit Sierra Leone employee, and the company will not be liable for any losses incurred as a result.
- Full payment is required at time of reservation. We operate on a prepayment basis and cannot confirm bookings for which no payment has been made. If you wish to make alternative arrangements for payment, please email us at info@visitsierraleone.org to discuss this.
- All rates, prices and promotions are subject to availability, change or termination without notification.
- There will be a charge for early check-in and late check-out. For early check-in (example 8am) it is normal for the hotel to charge for the previous night. Please inquire; this is especially important for clients on flights with early arrivals such as Royal Air Maroc.
Cancellations, Changes, Refunds:
- No refund can be made if any reservation is not utilized, for no-shows and for less than 24hrs notice of cancellation.
- For cancellations less than one week of your scheduled arrival date, a 10% cancellation fee applies. We are flexible and will normally offer a full refund for any cancellation done more than a week of arrival but reserve the right to deduct any charges passed on by the hotel.
- Please note any notice of cancellation is required to be in writing. This can be in the form of an email.
Alteration of Booking
Please note any amendment is required to be in writing. Any amendment to a confirmed booking is subject to availability and any cancellation due to amendment may incur the above cancellation fees.
Conduct:
It is your responsibility to make sure your party does not behave in a way that endangers or causes offence to others. It is also your responsibility to ensure that no damage occurs to property belonging to others. If you or any member of your party is deemed to have behaved in such a manner then we have the right to terminate your arrangements with us and to remove you from the property if necessary.
We ask you to treat the locals and other guests and holidaymakers in a courteous and considerate manner at all times.
Force majeure:
Except where otherwise expressly stated in these booking conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss as a result of “force majeure”. In these Booking Conditions, “force majeure” means any event which we or the hotel in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity or actual threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside our control.
Insurance and Liability:
You are strongly recommended to take out personal travel insurance for all members of your party. Please note that not all insurance policies intended for travel overseas are adequate to cover you for the hotel stays featured on our website. It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance cover you purchase is adequate for your particular needs. We do not check insurance policies
