Freetown — As part of ongoing support from the United Nations andits development partners to bolster Sierra Leone's hard earned peace towards sustainable development, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Ms Margot Elizabeth Wallstrom will visit Sierra Leone this weekend.

The Swedish-born social democrat will discuss with various state and Government officials on key legislations on gender and sexual violence. She will further discuss with the UN Country Team under the auspices of the Executive Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr Michael Schulenburg, key non-governmental organizations, women's organizations and political parties on programmatic gender issues such as 30% quota legislation and women, security and the 2012 elections.

Sierra Leone is emerging from over a decade long brutal war which resulted in the collapse of state institutions and unimaginable loss of human lives. The country has made significant strides in its peace building effort.
