St. Matthews Church Germany donates to Sierra Leone Nursery PDF Print E-mail

The donation was made at Regent Village by Christopher Wallace-Johnson on behalf of the Children of St Mathews Protestant Church Kindergarten.

Giving a background to the donation, Christopher Wallace-Johnson said that it was his uncle Theodore Nicol who lives in Germany that facilitated the donation.  He revealed that in July last year, when Theodore visited Sierra Leone, he saw the challenges facing the children and as a social worker working with children in Germany the concerns and interest of these children became paramount to him as part of the problems facing this part of the world.

He noted that Theodore started making comparison to the children’s way of life in kindergarten’s in Germany to that of the children at the YWCA kindergarten.  He said that the disparity was nothing to be compared.

He maintained that after Theodore had acquired lots of information he started giving consideration on how he could help alleviate the predicaments of these needy children who are the future leaders of this nation.  He revealed that upon his return to Germany Theodore made a Power Point presentation on the topic “AFRICA” to his colleagues and they were perplexed by what they saw and ask him to bring this topic closer to the children which he did.

He also stated that Theodore together with his colleagues organized an exhibition displaying all kinds of artifacts from Africa, which captivated the attention of the German children as it was fun all the way.  He noted that as Theodore was born in Sierra Leone, he was in a better position to bring Africa, Sierra Leone as an example closer to the children in Germany.
