A Sierra Leonean Mohamed Kamarainba and other Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora have started a new organisation ‘Patriotic Sierra Leonean’ with the motto ‘land that we Love our Sierra Leone’ as part of their assistance for the development of the country. According to Mohamed Kamarainba President Patriotic Sierra Leonean the organization is non-political, non-partisan and it is geared towards bringing people all over the world to make the country a better place. He said that the organzation will be formally launched on 5th January 2012 and that the theme is ‘what it takes to be a patriotic Sierra Leonean’.
He added that the programmes that they have planned to undertake includes teaching people on how to register and to vote during the 2012 elections, “as this election is going to be unique.” He added that “because of the biometric system of registration it is very important that the people come out and register – we are not doing this on any political party basis but for the people of this country” he said. The president went on to explain that what they intend to do is to rally around certain organsiations, institutions or individual to adopt roads that is roads that they are operating on, so that if anything should go bad to that road they should do the maintenance. “I have started it as I have adopted Tucker drive at Marjay Town I had to employ the services of the youths in that community, pay them and also bought all the materials for the construction of the road. It has now become my baby so it needs my care and attention and that is what I am going to give it. So if every institution adopts one road then road network will be a thing of the past in the country.”
