Freetown — The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has donated 500,000 to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for nutrition assistance to pregnant and nursing women and undernourished children in Sierra Leone.

This contribution of the Government of Germany complements the Government of Sierra Leone's health care initiatives to improve nutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers leading to higher infant birth weight, improved breastfeeding for children, and better nutrition during the first 1000 days of a child's life.
