Sierra Leonean Justice minister visits jailed war criminals in Rwanda |

Sierra Leone's deputy Justice minister Bockari Arrow John on Sunday visited eight countrymen jailed in Rwanda since November 2009, an official source disclosed.
The eight Sierra Leone nationals were sentenced by the Special Tribunal on Sierra Leone (SCSL) for war crimes and transferred to Rwanda where they are serving their jail terms.

ARS youngsters invited for national duty |

Rashidatu Kamara and Mariatu Conteh have just taken about a week since they returned from their dream trip to the Airtel/Manchester United football clinic in Dar es Salaam, but now they are on another football assignment back home in Sierra Leone. 'Working class' internship scheme begins in Westminster |

A grandfather from a Midlands pit village and a former refugee from Sierra Leone are among those chosen for a new Westminster internship scheme.
The Speaker's Parliamentary Placements initiative is designed to open up access to politics to people from poorer or disadvantaged backgrounds.
The interns will spend a year working for an MP and will receive a salary.

Kwesi Appiah Claims Gabon And Sierra Leone Will Test Black Stars |

Ghana assistant coach Kwesi Appiah believes Gabon and Sierra Leone are the right opposition to test Ghana’s steel for next January’s Nations Cup.
The Black Stars will play West African minnows Sierra Leone on 12 November before a tough test against 2012 Nations Cup co-hosts Gabon in Paris three days later.

WVU grad helps rebuild an African school with ‘Return to Bumpe’ event |

The Morgantown community showed their support by coming out to the "Return to Bumpe" event at the Metropolitan TheatreWednesday night.
West Virginia University graduate and Morgantown native SarahCulberson hosted the event in an effort to rebuild a high school in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

VOLUNTEERS are being offered a chance to work on life-changing projects in Africa alongside a charity started by a top international footballer.
Ben Bomford, from Fladbury near Evesham, and friend Chris Habershon have set up a volunteer organisation which sends people to Sierra Leone as part of the Craig Bellamy Foundation – founded by the Wales and Liverpool player – and the charity Street Child of Sierra Leone.

Rashidatu Kamara has become the third Sierra Leonean to be recognised for her hard work at the Airtel Rising Star Football Clinic inDar es Salaam. On Day 3 of the intense training headed by a member of the Manchester United Soccer School coaching staff, Billy Miller – Rashidatu who won the best player in the Western Area Airtel Rising Stars Sierra Leone tourney put up a fine performance in the area of behaviour and communication, and she was given a special badge of honour joining Patrick Gbinda and Hamza Kamara as the third Sierra Leonean to be recognised in the ongoing football clinic organised by Airtel in conjunction with Manchester United Football Club soccer school

The Digital Hope initiative of the B-Gifted Foundation of Sierra Leone has been selected and recognized as one of the best Digital Ideas and Digital Talent at ITU Telecom World 2011. 30 under-25 year olds + 15.
Not-for-profits and their talented digital staff were invited to ITU Telecom World 11 to develop their ideas into a product pitch, ready for a chance to win a share of a 50K CHF investment. There were over 150 entries from all over the world, and Greene emerged as one of the winners. In Geneva in Switzerland, Greene and other shortlist were put through a presentation of ‘fast and furious pitches’ of their ideas.

Leone Stars captain hints at retirement |

Leone Stars Captain Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo has confirmed to the Sierra Express Media that he will be retiring from the Sierra Leone National Football team soon.
According to the Inter Baku midfielder, the way and manner in which the Football Association is behaving to them as players has forced him to hang up his boots for the national football team Leone Stars.
