ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov 21, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Oraco Resources, Inc. /quotes/zigman/6411827 ORAC +0.39% ("Oraco") announced today that it has strengthened its holdings by reviving contractual rights for the disposition of diamonds, gold, and any other minerals recovered in an approximately 10 acre area of mineral rich Boroma, Sierra Leone. These rights had been acquired by JYORK Industries, Inc. in 2008 before becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Oraco. The holding is located northwest of the city of Koidu in the Kono District, Sierra Leone.

Mainstream journalism needs a complete overhaul if it is to survive as a legitimate voice of society, according to a Sierra Leonean academic at Northumbria University.

SLIEPA ends investment forum |

Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), in collaboration with government, through the Ministry of Trade and Industry, organized a forum to create an interface dialogue between the Private Sector and international investors for partnership.
The forum saw Ministries of government showcasing business potentials to foreign as well as national investors expressing business interests in Sierra Leone.

Accra, Nov. 20, GNA – Ghana's Amputee Football team, The Black Challenge began their campaign in the 2011 Cup of Africa Nations for Amputee Football (CANAF) on a bad note after losing 1-2 to their Sierra Leone counterparts in the tournament's opener on Saturday at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra.
The much talked about Black Challenge team failed to glitter as they were silenced by their Sierra Leonean counterparts in front of their teeming home fans.

In Sierra Leone, UN envoy urges greater support for sexual violence survivors |

The United Nations official leading efforts against sexual violence in conflict today called for greater support for survivors of sexual abuse in Sierra Leone, saying they needed access to justice and assistance to reintegrate into society.
“Additional resources are also required to strengthen the capacity of the judicial system in order to address the issue of sexual violence,” said Margot Wallström, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, who is visiting to the West African country where sexual violence was widespread during a decade-long bloody conflict in the 1990s.
