Tranquillity and calm with a touch of classI had not intended to travel that far south along the coast or planned to stay for 3 nights but my holiday would not have been complete without my experience on Bonthe island and my visit to Bonthe Holiday Village. The staff made me feel welcome, the food was delicious, the decor of the restaurant, lounge and bungalows simply charming. It was difficult to match their standards elsewhere. I hope the community and history continue to thrive thanks to this resort. I look forward to my next visit there. Thanks for making me feel so welcome! Was this review helpful to you? 00 Hotels

TribewantedTribewanted is located in one of the most stunning locations imaginable. The welcome from the community is second-to-none and the range of activities mean there is something to appeal to everyone. I spent a month living on the beach, getting to know the villagers and fishermen, lending a hand with the projects and indulging in reading and writing in the hammocks. The future of tourism in Sierra Leone is here.Tribewanted is an absolutely incredible experience. Its location, for one, is stunning, along a pristine stretch of coastline you WILL have to yourself (and the ocean is warm and swimmer-friendly). The food is local and delicious, and there's a LOT of it. The prices are reasonable, once you're there--the rooms themselves are a bit pricey, but meals are included and at least you know the money is supporting the local community. And being awesomely eco-friendly (there are solar panels, compost toilets, bucket showers, an organic garden) doesn't come cheap to anyone. Was this review helpful to you? 20 Hotels

Excellent TripI went with a group last month and we all had an excellent time at Tacaguma. It was beautiful and the service was outstanding. The work they are doing is truly commendable. Highly recommend a visit. Was this review helpful to you? 10 Hotels

3 nights stayYou have got to do this trip and stay ... its stunning, another stunning venue, scenery, and people of SL. The rooms are clean and basic - but hey - this is not a 5 star hotel, its a beach hut - and if you are going to one of the most stunning beaches in the world to sit in your room - then don't bother to go here... you wont enjoy it. But if its beautiful beaches, a back drop of unspoilt jungle, and basic but well served menu .. then head there for a least a couple of nights. Also this is a community run, community funded project, and you have the smug satisfaction that all the profit from your money is going to educate and improve a large local community. A night at the reserveI put down 4 as value here - as the real value of this is the contribution back to the sanctuary ad the higher cost of the stay is as much part of mutual benefit as it is a very clean, beautiful, and relaxing place. if you go to FT - this is a must visit. Very very disappointingOne of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Looks as if it has been abandoned. Little furniture in public areas, no staff, no evidence of anywhere to get food or drink but mightily expensive. Hostel accommodation which was worth $20 per night but we were charged 115$. An absolute rip-off. Was this review helpful to you? 00
